Catherine Chapman and Tarot Elements

Catherine Chapman

My name is Catherine Chapman. I am amongst other things, a Tarot reader, author, student, business woman and mother. I have been reading Tarot for a number of years and never cease in learning something new about Tarot cards, or indeed, myself.

There isn’t a better way to learn how to read Tarot than to get in there, pull some Tarot cards and read them. This learning never ends and is a wonderful cycle of beginning and completing – our advancement being the goal; and when one cycle ends, another exciting one begins.

Many times during the day when my thoughts wander, I find myself thinking all things Tarot – from Tarot cards and Tarot decks, to Tarot spreads, including the popular Celtic Cross Spread, and of course, Tarot reading. I often think of new ways to read the Tarot, and being a bit of a rebel, I like to play around and adapt older techniques and add my own spin on them – this is after all my own personal relationship with Tarot, and I’m a great believer in progression and growth – something I believe benefits both the Tarot reader and of course, Tarot itself.

Tarot Elements for the most part, is an attempt to get those thoughts and ideas down ‘on paper’ and out there for other Tarot enthusiasts to consider and hopefully make a connection with. You can read more about the birth of my Tarot blog in my first ever post on Tarot Elements, called New Beginnings.

I have many people to thank for my continuing journey with the Tarot, and many mentors. It’s a process that is always enjoyable and often a mentor can be someone who stays for only a short time. I have been fortunate enough to be personally mentored by Paul Hughes-Barlow of supertarot.co.uk, he taught me the systems of reading Tarot cards using Elemental Dignities, Card Counting and Pairing. I will be discussing these systems on Tarot Elements, and will share with you how simple and dynamic it is to read Tarot cards and spreads this way. Other mentors wish to remain anonymous, but their input has been no less important to me personally, or indeed with my spiritual journey. They continue to be my friends and mentors.

I’ve read Tarot professionally via many platforms and have experienced the different facets of reading from quick-fire answers to more in-depth explorations of the soul and the future. For the last two years I have been a member of the Tarot Association of the British Isles and am a fully Endorsed Reader that follows their Code of Ethics personally and professionally.

Please feel free to contact me with any ideas or contributions you would like to make or indeed see on this Tarot blog.

I look forward to meeting you and talking Tarot!
