Hi Will - sub-elements are everywhere in the cards once you become aware of them. I still find the 2 of Swords to one of the most obvious with Air as its primary element and water as a sub-element - has such a moon-like quality to it that I can't ignore.

This technique does work in other decks, the Thoth particularly, but I find the Rider Waite-Smith an great starting place. If you have the Thoth, you will find that cards you consider having sub-elements may not correspond with the RWS and vice-versa.

I'm glad you like my blog, and Tarot Eon also, Doug's site is amazingly detailed!

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to Tarot Elements :)

I haven't considered sub-elements in tarot cards or read about this before so thanks for writing about this. This adds even more depth to a reading and is good to know and consider.

I like and appreciate your site and it is very informative. I found you through Paul's Supertarot site and he suggested your site to me in a email.

I also think Douglas Gibb's site is very useful and well written too like yours.

Thank You,
Will from the United States
