After finally spending the week rethinking my whole life and work strategy, I found myself the recipient of many signs that confirmed I had made the right decision in propelling my Tarot life and business forward. I have been working on streamlining my website, and after my Daily Tarot Card Reading this morning, I decided to switch my Internet presence from a website to a Tarot blog instead. This first post on my newly formed Tarot blog, Tarot Elements, is an account and exploration of the reading that changed the course of my life.

I have always loved the quote by von Goethe. I have it on a card sent by entrepreneur Chris Cardell, which I keep pinned to my office wall as a daily reminder to follow my dreams. This quote though has always held some trepidation too – taking a step towards your dreams requires more than words, it requires action too and a commitment to see it through, even when things don’t seem to go so well. It’s one of those quotes though that gets under your skin and niggles away at you until you take that action. The rest of the quote reads like this:

The moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one that would never have otherwise occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.

Once I made my commitment, providence did indeed move and all sorts of things did occur to confirm the path in front of me. As I said earlier, I spent this week rethinking my life, but this had actually begun a few weeks ago. It was the events of Easter weekend and these last few weeks that really gave me the impetus and direction I needed. And of course this mornings Tarot reading, which I will share with you now.

I don’t normally use positional spreads for myself, but at the prompting of some Universal inspiration a year ago, I devised my Daily Tarot Reading Spread. The positions are as follows:

  1. Myself – this is how I am on this day, how I’m feeling, my mindset, my energy or not.
  2. Theme – this is the theme for the day, be it good or bad, I will get an idea here.
  3. Challenges – this can represent people or situations, but either way it’s a warning.
  4. Responses – this is my likely personal response to the challenge suggested before.
  5. Advice – this is advice directly from the Universal Source relating to the day.
  6. Thought – and a final Thought for the Day, which will either confirm the reading, or ask me to expand my thinking.

This mornings reading, using the Aleister Crowley Thoth deck was as follows:

  1. Myself – The Fool
  2. Theme – 8 of Disks
  3. Challenges – The Aeon
  4. Responses – Queen of Swords
  5. Advice – The Magus
  6. Thought – Prince of Swords

Using the Card Ratio to assess the Tarot cards in my Daily Tarot Reading Spread, I have:

  • 3 Major Arcana
  • 2 Court Cards
  • 1 Minor Arcana
  • 1 Fire
  • 4 Air
  • 1 Earth

Internal and external control is fairly evenly split with 3 Major Arcana in a 6 card Tarot reading. Assuming at this point that both Court Cards represent me, the control swings my way. Using Elemental Dignities, this Tarot reading is all Air, and therefore taking place in the realm of my mind. The lack of the other elements shows clearly that the need to overcome my internal issues is dominating the spread. Everything I have been planning is still in the early stages of development, most of which is still in being worked out in my mind.

It’s evident from the Tarot cards in my Daily Tarot Reading Spread that I made the right decision. As the Fool, I am here at the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Making the commitment to fully embrace this path has opened up a whole new world, which is beginning right here. A new Aeon is before me.

My challenge today is to accept my decision and allow to absorb into my psyche, lay the past to bed and begin my own new Aeon fresh and renewed. I can achieve this by using the mindset of the Queen of Swords, finally dealing with the small details I have left until now. This queen often makes me think of Boudicca; mistress of her own destiny, in control and on top of her game. This is stepping up to the plate, loud and proud!

Assistance in doing this comes from the 8 of Disks, and while I don’t feel particularly Prudent, I’m reminded the learning will continue; but also of not being side tracked on my quest. The Magus is my personal assistant and tells me to network and communicate, but to operate with the skill and mastery I already possess. This guy has confidence that he doesn’t even think about, it just is; and in this situation, he’s an excellent role model.

The Prince of Swords in the Thought of the Day position does tie in the whole reading and as a footnote reminds me to let go of the things that wont serve me on this path. Stepping up to the plate is one thing, letting go of the excesses will help to keep me light and free while I travel on and high.
